The Policy Centre is founded on all organisations holding a stake in the successful development of research communications being able to reflect on and adhere to a set of common principles as set out in our report “Research and the Scholarly communications process: Towards strategic goals for public policy”, published in March 2007.

In conjunction with Searchlighter, we have established a set of online resources that might be used by the scholarly communications community according to our research with key stakeholders in this community, such as higher education institutions, research administrators, research funders, libraries, and publishers. This has been done so that the stated set of common principles can be a valuable meeting place, one around which the community can gather to develop their own role in the process of policy development, and in so doing have direct influence in the future of scholarly communications.
